An HSS post bears onto a 1/2-inch by 10-inch by 1-foot-2-inch embed plate set flush with the top of a concrete slab. The embed plate is anchored using four 1/2-inch diameter by 5-inch welded headed studs. Additional reinforcing steel consists of two #4 bars at 48 inches each way, totaling four bars around the connection. The HSS post is welded to the embed plate with fillet welds on all sides.
