A non-frame pipe column, similar to a hollow structural section tube, welds to a steel base plate with a 5/16-inch or American Welding Society minimum fillet weld. The base plate rests on three inches of non-shrink grout above the top of the concrete footing or pilaster. Anchor bolts sized per schedule secure the base plate using double nuts and hardened washers, paired with one-half-inch by four-inch square plate washers embedded near the bottom of the footing. Number 4 ties spaced at six inches on center, with a minimum of three ties, reinforce the footing.
