The assembly consists of two checkered plates butted together over the flange of a supporting beam or channel. The seam between the plates is joined with a 3/16-inch fillet weld. The weld is specified as a 6-inch continuous weld at each end, applied typically to both plates. The plate thickness is indicated at the joint interface.
