Three-quarter-inch diameter by four-inch headed welded stud shear connectors are installed on a two-inch deck. The plan and section views specify a minimum longitudinal spacing of four and one-half inches and a minimum transverse spacing of three inches per AISC guidelines. When the required number of studs cannot be maintained in a single row over the center of the beam, the contractor must install studs in two rows while maintaining the specified minimum lateral spacing. Per AISC requirements, shear connectors require a minimum flange thickness of zero point three hundred inches when studs are not placed directly over the web.
