An L4x4x1/4 diagonal brace connects between a collector or framing wide flange beam and another wide flange beam supporting a metal deck with concrete fill. The brace is secured at each end with seven-eighths inch high-strength bolts and three-eighths inch thick plates, maintaining a five-inch minimum dimension from the beam flange. Alternatively, a three-sixteenths inch fillet weld all around the angle brace may be provided in lieu of the bolts, requiring a minimum six-inch total length. A quarter-inch fillet weld is applied typically at the connection. Three-quarter-inch welded studs are provided where concrete fill occurs on the metal deck.
