An HSS6x6 hollow structural section column bears onto a W12 wide-flange beam supported by a three-eighths-inch thick by eight-inch wide by one-foot-zero-inch long plate secured with four three-quarter-inch diameter A325 slip-critical bolts at the usual gauge. An HSS8x6 member is coped to fit the W18 framing and connects via L4x4xone-quarter-inch by zero-foot-eight-inch angles on each side with three-sixteenths-inch welds. One-quarter-inch fillet welds secure the column base plate assembly typically as indicated.
