This structural steel detail shows a beam-to-column web connection featuring beams of different depths framing into opposite sides of a column web. The connection utilizes a welded shear tab at the beam web, sized one-quarter inch thicker than the beam web, and continuity plates top and bottom aligned with the beam flanges. Edge distances and bolt spacings conform to American Institute of Steel Construction specifications, with the number and size of bolts detailed on the plan. Continuity plates are included top and bottom, with provisions to omit them on one side if the dimension is less than three inches. Welds are specified for the continuity plate top and bottom flanges, with second rows of bolts added as required per plan.
