An HSS member frames into a supporting HSS column or member utilizing an angle seat and top plate connection. The detail specifies a 3/8-inch plate welded to the top of the members with 1/4-inch fillet welds. An angle, sized as L6x4x3/8 by 0 feet 6 inches for member depths between 4 and 6 inches or L6x6x3/8 by 0 feet 6 inches for depths of 6 inches and greater, supports the bottom flange of the framing member. Fillet welds of 1/4-inch size secure the angle to the supporting and supported members per the indicated dimensions. Clearances of 2 inches are maintained at the top connection interface, with side clearances of 1/2 inch shown on the adjacent section view.
