A buckling-restrained brace connects to a gusset plate welded to a base plate anchored into a concrete shear wall and slab pocket. The base plate rests on a one-inch non-shrink grout layer over a concrete pocket with a maximum depth of ten inches. Anchor bolts extend twenty-five inches minimum into the concrete wall with double nuts and washers. Additional reinforcing includes six number eight bars by twenty feet long each way, totaling twelve bars centered on the base plate with standard hooks at the pocket and lap splices per plan. Non-shrink grout fills the slab pocket around the assembly.
