An L6x6x3/8 angle, measuring zero feet nine inches long, frames a mechanical opening and connects to a wide flange beam or open web joist referenced per plan. The connection employs quarter-inch fillet welds securing the angle to the supporting structural member. A minimum one-half-inch clearance is maintained from the centerline of the beam or open web joist. The design requires submission to the structural engineer for review where the flange width exceeds nine inches.
