A wide flange steel column or embedment is anchored directly into a concrete mat foundation at grid line 12. Four 3/4-inch diameter by 6-inch long headed studs are welded to the embedded member at 8-inch spacing. Mat edge reinforcement is installed per structural plans. Local thickening of the mat foundation is permitted as required for temporary base plate conditions.
