An HSS beam frames into an HSS column with an angle connection placed at the top and bottom of the beam. The connection uses L4x4x1/2 angles cut to the column width, welded to the column with 5/16-inch welds on both sides. The beam web and flanges are secured with 1/4-inch fillet welds on three sides typically top and bottom. A maximum 1/2-inch clearance is maintained between the beam end and the column face unless noted otherwise.
