Open web steel joists bear on the top flange of a supporting wide flange steel beam with a three-inch minimum bearing length. Half-inch erection bolts are provided where required to secure the joist shoes during construction. A three-sixteenths inch fillet weld secures the assembly as specified by the engineering layout.
