A skewed shear plate connects to a supporting member at a specified skew angle with a gap G. Three weld configurations are detailed for the plate-to-support joint: a fillet weld, a partial-joint-penetration weld with a five-sixteenths inch size and one-eighth inch root opening, and a complete-joint-penetration weld.
