A hollow structural section with horizontal long-slotted holes on one side connects to an embed plate cast into a concrete beam and slab. The connection uses L4x3x5/16 by zero-feet-seven-inches angles on each side fastened with two three-quarter-inch bolts in standard holes. The embed plate measures three-quarters by twelve by twelve inches and includes four half-inch diameter by six-inch studs at eight inches on center. Additional reinforcement consists of two number four bars at zero-feet-ten-inches long at four inches on center with two inches of clearance. A one-quarter-inch fillet weld with typical two-inch end returns attaches the angle assembly. The hollow structural section and embeds are located per elevator manufacturer requirements.
