A buckling-restrained braced frame column base plate connection is secured by four two-inch-diameter ASTM F1554 Grade 105 anchor rods. Five-eighths by four by four-inch washer plates with standard holes are typically provided and welded, with anchor rod nuts tightened only after washer plate welds are complete. The column flanges and web are joined to the embed plate using complete joint penetration welds. Edge plates are specified on both the near side and far side, and dimension "d" is set by the buckling-restrained brace manufacturer.
