A keyed construction joint is formed within a concrete element to transfer shear forces between adjacent placements. The key features a trapezoidal recess measuring two and a half inches across the face and three and a half inches at the base with a depth of one and a half inches. Form material must be completely removed from the keyway prior to placing adjacent concrete. All dimensions are subject to a plus or minus one-half inch tolerance.
