Steel joists span parallel to an expansion joint with cross bridging supplied by the joist manufacturer. A metal roof deck bears across the top chords of the joists on each side of the structural grid line. Three-sixteenths inch welds are specified typically for plate and deck connections as well as joist design upgrades. Expansion joint dimensions and specific plate details are coordinated with detail 1/S704.
