A structural steel plate girder frames into the flange of a wide-flange column using a bolted shear plate connection. A one-inch gap is maintained between the end of the plate girder and the column flange face. The shear plate utilizes a vertical row of bolts with a standard two-inch typical spacing. The center four bolts of the bolt group use standard holes and are pre-tensioned, while all other bolts above and below use horizontal short-slotted holes and are snug-tight. Bolt sizes, shear plate dimensions, and additional bolt counts are sized per the plate girder schedule.
