An HSS beam connects to a wide-flange column using L6x6x3/8 top and bottom structural angles. A five-sixteenth-inch fillet weld secures the angles to the wide-flange column flange, and a one-quarter-inch fillet weld secures the plate to the angle. A five-sixteenth-inch stiffener plate is provided at the bottom angle only. A one-half-inch maximum offset condition is accommodated, with bent plates substituted for angles at sloped members.
