A steel beam connects to a supporting column flange using a welded one-half-inch thick shear tab plate. Two seven-eighths-inch diameter A325-N bolts fasten the beam web to the plate with equal vertical spacing. A three-quarter-inch gap separates the end of the beam from the column face. A one-quarter-inch fillet weld secures the shear tab to the column flange.
