A structural steel beam-to-column connection places the beam continuous either over or under the column. The assembly incorporates a base plate or cap plate measuring one-half inch by flange width plus three-quarters of an inch by length to accommodate bolts. Connections utilize four five-eighths-inch diameter A325N bolts as typical. Full-height web plates and partial-joint-penetration or complete-joint-penetration welds are specified where required. Plan section, section A-A, and section B-B provide orthogonal views of the column above, column below, and connecting plates.
