A reinforcing bar is welded to an A36 steel plate with a minimum weld throat dimension of one-eighth inch and a minimum weld length of one-fifth of the bar diameter. All welded reinforcing bars must be ASTM A706 grade steel. Preheating and welding procedures must comply with American Welding Society D1.4 standards. All welding requires continuous inspection by a qualified laboratory.
