A quarter-inch thick steel plate measuring one and a half inches by one foot is anchored to the side of the cross-laminated timber stringer. A concrete stair tread ties into the stringer assembly secured by three quarter-inch diameter by three-inch partially threaded screws on each side of the tread. Visible welds and surfaces of the tread are specified as architecturally exposed structural steel category three.
