A steel beam with standard holes connects to an existing concrete wall via a three-eighths-inch bent plate. The connection utilizes three seven-eighths-inch diameter A325N bolts through the beam web. Five-sixteenths-inch welds with two-inch returns secure the bent plate assembly. The contractor must locate existing reinforcing steel and notify the engineer for any conflicts.
