This structural detail shows a steel frame column intersecting horizontal frame beams with diagonal buckling-restrained braces framed into the connection. A continuous vertical gusset plate passes through the beam depth, centered on the column and beam web, flanked by Grade 50 stiffener plates. Grade 50 top plates match the width of the frame beam and connect to the gusset plate with complete joint penetration welds. Continuity plates on each side of the column web match the frame beam flange thickness plus one-quarter inch. Demand critical complete joint penetration welds attach the beam flanges and top and bottom plates, with weld access holes provided at the beam webs. Additional doubler plates and stiffener plates are included where required per the buckling-restrained brace designer.
