A handrail post is set into a pipe sleeve embedded in a reinforced concrete ramp slab with a drop capital. The pipe sleeve is anchored to a three-inch by three-inch by quarter-inch plate welded to the sleeve at the bottom, reinforced with two number four rebars around the sleeve. Non-shrink grout fills the annular space between the handrail post and the sleeve. A six-inch high concrete housekeeping pad surrounds the base of the post at the cold joint above the one-foot thick ramp slab.
