A hollow structural section beam sized per plan bears on a wide flange column sized per plan. A 1/2-inch by 8-inch by 0-foot 8-inch cap plate sits between the beam and column top flange. A 1/4-inch end cap plate is welded to the end of the hollow structural section beam with a continuous weld all around.
