These structural steel details illustrate seismic brace conditions including cable braces and angle braces connected to steel beams. Condition 2E features a cable brace attached with a Mason type SCB seismic bracket and a 1/8-inch fillet weld, requiring the brace to be located less than 45 degrees in plan from the centerline of the steel beam. Conditions 2D and 2A show angle braces connected using a 5/16-inch by 5-inch by 5-inch plate with one 3/8-inch diameter machine bolt and 3/16-inch fillet welds. If the bracing plan angle exceeds 45 degrees, reference to alternate details is specified.
