Hollow structural section headers connect to wide-flange columns along the strong axis, wide-flange columns along the weak axis, and hollow structural section columns. The connection utilizes top angles sized 3x3x3/8 and bottom angles sized 6x4x1/2 with long legs vertical, maintaining a half-inch clearance from the column face. Fillet welds of five-sixteenth-inch size are specified typically at one side on the top angle and three sides on the bottom angle. The hollow structural section headers are sized per elevation and plan requirements with bottom of steel elevations noted per plan.
