An HSS member connects to an existing column using a horizontal angle and three-eighths inch typical stiffener plates welded with quarter-inch fillet welds. An existing wide flange beam supports a slab on metal deck, adjacent to an existing masonry veneer set one foot maximum off reference plan. An L5x5x1/2 angle is secured with three-quarter-inch diameter by four-and-a-half-inch nominal embedment screw anchors spaced at six inches on center, with the horizontal leg aligned to the top of steel.
