An interior gravity wide-flange steel column anchors to a reinforced concrete footing supporting a concrete slab-on-grade. The column features a base plate secured with anchor bolts, enclosed by a one-inch thick polyfoam wrap that is later partially removed and filled with sealant. The concrete footing top surface is roughened to a quarter-inch amplitude beneath the slab-on-grade, which includes slab dowels matching the slab reinforcement with standard hooks provided if development length is less than required. A vertical dimension of one foot four inches separates the top of the footing from the top of the slab. A drawing note specifies that this anchorage detail applies to non-lateral force-resisting frame columns only, directing users to sheet S-5521 for lateral force-resisting frame anchorage details.
