Web penetrations must be located within the middle third of the beam depth and maintain minimum clearance distances from beam ends and intersecting members. Openings are prohibited within ten feet of any column above the beam end. Clearances require a minimum distance of two times the beam depth from supports for penetrations outside the middle third of the span. Shear plates and bolts connect framing members per structural specifications.
