A W12 column supports a continuous 1-1/4 inch by 4 inch plate with a yield strength of 50 KSI, connected via shop-drilled 5/8 inch diameter holes. Three-eighths inch stiffener plates are spaced at 8 inches on center, with the first plate located 6 inches above the top of the slab. Fillet welds of 3/16 inch and 1/4 inch sizes secure the assembly components according to typical structural specifications.
