An HSS brace frames into an HSS column and HSS beam connection utilizing a three-eighths-inch thick gusset plate. Three-eighths-inch thick stiffener plates are welded top and bottom with quarter-inch fillet welds, designated as SFRS. The HSS brace features a slot at the gusset connection and is welded with quarter-inch welds on both sides for lengths of six and twenty-eight inches. Five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds typically connect the beam elements. A connection detail reference directs to detail A1 on sheet S-533.
