This structural steel connection details moment-resisting or shear connections between steel beams and a column flange for beams of the same depth on both sides. A shear tab with a thickness equal to the web plus one-quarter inch is welded to the column flange and bolted to the beam web, with bolt size and quantity determined per structural notes. A second row of bolts is provided as required by design loads, maintaining a standard three-inch minimum spacing and two-inch edge distance typical. Continuity plates are installed at the top and bottom flange levels across the column web, using the larger thickness of TF1 or TF2 as specified on the drawings.
