A structural steel beam frames into the web of a column utilizing a bolted shear tab and top and bottom plates. The shear tab is welded to the column flange with a five-sixteenths inch fillet weld and bolted to the beam web per the structural schedule, with edge distance and bolt spacing conforming to AISC specifications. Three-quarter inch top and bottom plates are welded to the column and beam flange, reduced to one-half inch plates for W10x or smaller beams. A second row of bolts is provided where applicable, and detailing maintains clearances per the AISC manual 'K1' dimension.
