A hollow structural section beam frames into the web of a wide flange beam using a quarter-inch plate welded with three-sixteenths fillet welds to each side of the HSS. Two three-quarter-inch diameter through bolts pass through horizontal short slotted holes in the connecting plates. The assembly accommodates horizontal movement while providing secure structural transfer between the members. A one-inch minimum clearance is maintained per elevation requirements.
