A cantilevered structural steel beam connects to a transverse beam using top and bottom flange plates and a bolted shear plate. The top flange plate features a thickness equal to the beam flange thickness plus one-eighth inch, a width equal to the beam flange width minus three-quarters inch, and a length sized per schedule and plan, with a note prohibiting welds over the transverse beam. The bottom flange plate has a thickness equal to the beam flange thickness minus one-eighth inch, a width equal to the beam flange width plus three-quarters inch, and an increased length of length plus six inches per schedule. Fillet weld sizes and minimum plate lengths are governed by a schedule based on the beam flange thickness. The web connection uses a shear plate with bolts per specification 05201, and all flange connection plates match the beam steel grade.
