Head anchor bolts are embedded into concrete masonry units and pilasters with a minimum clearance of one-half inch for grout. Additional horizontal reinforcement is set in bond units and tied to the anchor bolts, including a number four bar twelve inches long at each anchor bolt where bolts are on a slope. A tie bar connects to the anchor bolt, and one inch minimum grout is placed all around bolts in masonry with forms as required. Anchor bolts project between one-quarter inch and one inch beyond the nut, with excess threads removed where the nut is countersunk flush.
