This structural detail shows a four-inch diameter hot-dipped galvanized schedule forty steel pipe bollard filled with plain concrete and mounted to an existing concrete surface. The pipe is welded with a quarter-inch fillet weld to an eight by eight by three-eighths inch thick A36 hot-dipped galvanized steel base plate. The base plate is secured with one-half inch diameter ASTM F1554 threaded rods set in Hilti HIT-HY 200 V3 adhesive anchors embedded three inches into the concrete. The exposed portion of the pipe is painted safety yellow or covered with an optional safety yellow bollard sleeve featuring three two-inch wide reflective tape bands. The top of the concrete fill inside the pipe is crowned.
