A twenty-four by twenty-four inch concrete masonry unit pilaster is reinforced with eight number eight vertical bars and number three transverse reinforcing spaced at sixteen inches on center. The vertical reinforcing bars extend one foot nine inches into the footing with a standard hook, and bond beam reinforcing is provided with standard hooks in the pilaster. A vertical control joint is located adjacent to the pilaster with a maximum vertical control joint spacing of twenty feet.
