An incoming steel beam connects to a supporting member using a full-depth one-half-inch shear plate welded to the support with quarter-inch fillet welds. The beam web secures to the shear tab with five seven-eighth-inch diameter A325-X bolts in standard holes, spaced at three inches on center with two inches top and bottom clearances. A one-half-inch gap is maintained between the beam end and the supporting flange.
