A built-up slab edge bears on a W21 steel beam sized per plan with a complete joint penetration weld. A 1/2-inch by 12-inch plate is welded to the beam flange, anchored by two 3/4-inch diameter by 4 1/2-inch studs spaced at 1 foot-0 inches on center. The vertical face of the slab assembly features a plate anchored by three 3/4-inch diameter by 6-inch studs spaced at 1 foot-0 inches on center each way, reinforced with number 5 rebar at 12 inches on center. All steel plates have a minimum yield strength of 50 ksi.
