Shear studs are placed in the flutes of a composite metal deck bearing on the flange of a steel beam, positioned as close as practical to the center of the flute. At a single stud per flute, adjacent studs are placed on opposite sides of the reinforcing rib. At double studs per flute, studs are staggered in each flute on opposite sides of the reinforcing rib. Minimum stud spacing along the flute is referenced to detail 11.
