This assembly features a hollow structural section column supported by a wide flange beam. The column base plate is three-quarters of an inch thick and is secured with four three-quarter-inch diameter machine bolts. The column is welded to the base plate with a one-quarter-inch fillet weld. A three-eighths-inch thick end stiffener plate is centered beneath the base plate and welded to the wide flange beam web with a one-quarter-inch fillet weld on each side. The assembly includes a minimum edge distance of one and one-half inches for the bolts.
