A full depth shear plate connects the supported steel beam web to the supporting member web, supplemented by a full depth stiffener plate welded on three sides with one-quarter inch fillet welds. Three bolts secure the beam web to the shear plate, maintaining a one and one-half inch clearance and a three-quarter inch maximum gap. The number of bolts is determined per the structural schedule. The stiffener plate is designated extra strong.
