An HSS column per plan bears on a three-quarter-inch by fourteen-inch by fourteen-inch steel base plate set over one-half-inch maximum non-shrink grout. The base plate is anchored to a concrete drilled pier using four five-eighth-inch diameter all-thread bolts with three-inch by three-inch by one-quarter-inch washer plates embedded in the concrete. The column is welded to the plate with a one-quarter-inch fillet weld at the HSS column and bottom flange on each side typical. Base plate holes are permitted a maximum one-sixteenth-inch oversize, and washers must be welded to the base plate.
