A steel beam sized per plan receives five-eighths-inch plates whose width matches the beam flange and slots through the web. One-half-inch vertical stiffeners attach at each face with widths aligned to the flange. Stiffeners maintain a typical four-foot-six-inch spacing along the span with a maximum height clearance of one-third of dimension D at the lower termination. Fillet welds measure three-eighths-inch and one-half-inch.
