Cold-formed metal stud framing incorporates a fifty-four-mil stud blocking member spaced at eight feet on center maximum horizontally and three feet six inches on center maximum vertically, secured to each stud with two number eight sheet metal screws. A continuous eleven and one-half inch by thirty-three-mil strap is required at all stud blocking where gypsum finish or wall sheathing is absent, fastened with one number eight sheet metal screw to each stud flange and four to each stud blocking. Gypsum finish is applied on both sides where required. Wall sheathing is included where specified per plan. Stud blocking is explicitly required only at shear walls and at walls lacking finishes on both sides.
